The Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Community mourns the passing of Tom McGuirk

On Sunday, March 19th 2023, Thomas Michael McGuirk died suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition in his home in Collegeville, PA. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Kristina; loving children, Megan and Rory; adoring grandchildren, Norah and Chloe; brother Brian, sister Anne, sisters-in-law, Johanna, Karen, and Margaret; and brother-in-law, Mark. He also leaves behind his extended family and a large network of friends and colleagues that span from Ireland to the States.

Tom was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, the eldest son of Thomas Patrick and Kitty McGuirk. He was dedicated to his family and a proud Irishman.

United Soccer Coaches, an Associate Member of U.S. Soccer, is continuing to recognize the contributions of soccer officials at all levels beginning with “The Referee Experience” at the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Convention which will be held on January 13-14 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA. United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) has long recognized the need to include soccer officials, without whom the organized game cannot be played, into its extended family with the understanding of the importance of sharing common ground information as well as the need to improve communication, cooperation, and camaraderie between Referees and Coaches, who have long suffered from an unfortunate disconnect.
